The Voting Rights Act of 1965 was an important change to the future of America allowing people to vote no matter what race they are. President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Act in 1965, with influence from Martin Luther King Jr. It was only signed after years of peaceful protests and people demanding a change after being repeatedly beaten down, killed, and arrested, that the president had decided to officially sign the Voting Rights Act.
